How do I place a hold on a book that is checked out?
Answer
If a book you want is checked out, you can place a hold on the book. This ensures that you are the next person to receive the book after it is returned.
To place a hold on a book you must log in to your library account on the library's online catalogue.
To access the catalogue click on the link "Print Books" on the library's website:
The library's catalogue will open in a new window.
Log in to your library's account by clicking on the link "Log in to your account" at the top right of the page or use the log in option to the right of the carousel:
How to Log In:
Students: Omnivox username and password
Staff and Faculty: Username: Employee #
Password: Employee # Backwards
Note: The password can be changed after logging in for the first time or by visiting the library.
Once you have logged in use the search bar and drop-down menu to search by author, title, subject, and more:
You can place a hold on the results page or you can click the title of the book you want and place a hold on the book's individual record page.
To place a hold on the results page, click the link "Place hold" at the bottom left of the record:
On the following place click "Confirm hold:"
If you want to view the book's full record click on the title on the results page. You can then place a hold on the book's individual record page. Click on the link "Place a hold" on the right side:
On the follow page click on the link "Confirm hold:"
Your hold has now been placed.
Once the book has been returned you will receive an email that it is available to pick up.
